We have added a new bible to our collection. It’s the newly released Under The Sea Holy Bible, geared towards 6-10-year-olds. This is a great addition to our home.
The bible itself is the NIRV translation which stands for, New International Readers Version. I like this translation because it makes the verses easier to read and understand for young minds. I do wish there was more of an underwater theme throughout the bible like I’ve seen in other themed bibles, but perhaps the purposes of this bible is less about the theme and more about just drawing readers in with a fun cover.
The front cover is covered with foil and sparkles and cute sea creatures, the perfect images to draw in my boys, (who are just the right age for this bible) and there are a few pages on the inside that are underwater themed with relevant messages about God’s love and care for us and all creation. I particularly like the page about prayer. (See below)
As I mentioned above I do wish for more of an underwater theme throughout the bible but I’m also thankful that it’s not there so that the focus while reading will always be on the words rather than the imagery on the page. There are two great resources in the back of the book, a dictionary of terms used and a list of the great bible stories. Both great resources to include.
Would you like to win a copy of this bible for someone you know? Well here’s your chance. I have one copy to giveaway to one lucky reader. Enter on the widget below.
