Parenting is hard. (I know news flash right?)
Sometimes I wish I had been given a handbook or more warning about just how hard this parenting gig was going to be. Alas, I am left to fly by the seat of my pants, making mistakes daily and hoping I am not messing my kids up too badly. When I got the email about reviewing Dr. Todd Cartmell’s new book; 8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids, I immediately signed on to be a reviewer. ( I need all the help I can get!)
I’ll admit I started the book with a bad attitude and bad mindset. But as I got further through the book I was humbled into a mindset of making a change in how I interact with my kids.
My favourite thing about this book is the simple to read and incredibly short chapters! Finally, an author who gets that when you’re in the trenches of parenthood you don’t have time to read pages upon pages of inflated information. This book felt like it was literally written for me to read!
Each of the 8 simple tools has been broken down into five very short chapters that you can read in the school drop off line or between squabbles between your kids. And each chapter ends with a simple summary tip and some questions to consider.
Some of the tips won’t be mind blowing but the ways in which you can implement them just might be!

This is one of those books that I didn’t expect to get anything life changing from, but I think it just might be the best parenting book I have read with easy to follow examples and tips. I’m hoping I can at least implement a few of them.
