This past Saturday we cooked up our, late, Thanksgiving feast and set up to enjoy our dinner and a family movie in the living room. Our feature for the evening was Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9, the latest release from Phil Visher, creator of Veggie Tales.

DVD Cover image for Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9We were introduced to Buck Denver a few years ago when I won a What’s in the Bible? DVD on a friend’s blog. When I won it I didn’t think my kids were old enough to understand the material so I waited a bit to show them the video. They eventually found it and played it themselves one day and became huge fans of Buck!

Because of their love of Buck, I knew we had to be one of the first to see Buck’s latest adventure in Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9.

About the movie:

Buck Denver has a simple dream – to save the galaxy.  Working for the Galactic Mission Board, Buck dreams of carrying God’s love to every corner of the Milky Way!  Except he doesn’t have a starship.  Or a crew.  Or even a captain’s license.  He just needs a chance.  But when that chance comes and Buck finds himself leading a real mission into deep space, things don’t go at ALL like he imagined!  If he’s doing what God wants him to do, why is everything going wrong?  From VeggieTales® and What’s in the Bible? creator Phil Vischer, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 is a wild, galactic adventure that teaches kids a powerful lesson about trusting God with everything – even our dreams!
Run time: Approximately 40 minutes

The verdict:

We LOVED it! The kids were entranced right from the beginning and my husband and I even got a good chuckle out of a few scenes. Of course we couldn’t miss the not-so-subtle Star Wars and Star Trek references, they were pretty hard to miss. 😉 And the story was a great reminder to all of us about God’s love and purpose for our lives.

We were able to see and advanced sneak peak but never fear Galaxy Buck is currently available on Jelly Telly and will be on DVD tomorrow, October 20th for you to order a copy for yourself and kids.
